I recently moved to the Riverside neighborhood in Jacksonville, Florida, and a perk of this area is the Riverside Arts Market!
Hosted every Saturday from 10am-3pm (excluding big holidays), this market hosts local vendors selling everything from produce to coffee or tea or kombucha, to arts of all kinds, to food trucks. There are probably 50-100 vendors that take up a small portion of the riverbank. The Riverside Arts Market is lovingly called “RAM” and is located right in between downtown and the Cummer Museum. The market and parking is free, although it can sometimes be challenging to find parking as it’s usually busy.
The market also hosts local musicians and dancers who perform a few times throughout the day. I love grabbing a meal at a food truck and sitting down to watch the show. The food trucks are AMAZING, by the way. I’ve gone to a few now and I’ve never been disappointed.
For the holidays, I did my Christmas shopping at RAM. While I spent a bit more for things that I could’ve definitely gotten cheaper at Target or Marshalls, I was so happy to be putting my money back into the community and local vendors. I know that not everyone can afford to do this, but if you are able to, please spend your money at your local farmers or arts market instead of big box stores. I would say that I’m conscious of spending habits and try to support local whenever I can.
I’ve made a habit of visiting RAM at least once a month to pickup local goods and food, and I can’t wait to bring people who come to visit me, like my mom.
If you live in Jacksonville, or just moved to the area, or happen to be in Jacksonville on a Saturday morning, definitely check out the Riverside Arts Market! Snag some delicious food for me!
